DAY 1: CUSCO – TINQUI – UPIS
Your first day trekking to Ausangate sounds exciting:
– Early departure from Cusco to Tinqui (3800 meters/12,464 feet) by private transportation.
– Enjoy a three-hour scenic drive through the Interoceanic Highway.
– Passage through beautiful landscapes and traditional towns such as Urcos, Cattca and Ocangate.
– Lunch in Tinqui before starting the walk.
– Trekking of approximately 3 hours with magnificent views of the Vilcanota and Ausangate Mountain Range.
– Arrive at the hot springs at Upis (4,400 meters/14,432 feet) to spend the night and enjoy the stunning views of Ausangate at the end of the valley.

DAY 2: UPIS – LAGUNA AUSANGATE LAKE
The second day of your trekking to Ausangate promises to be spectacular:
– In the morning, you will cross the Arapa pass at an altitude of 4,850 meters (15,908 feet).
– Then, you will continue for 3 and a half hours descending through the valley, passing through the green Puqa Q'ocha lagoon until you reach the turquoise waters of the Jatun Puqa Q'ocha lagoon.
– Afterwards, you will ascend the second pass of Apuchata, which is located at an altitude of 4,900 meters (16,072 feet). From here, you will enjoy stunning views of the Ausangate Q'ocha lagoon and its turquoise blue waters. This lagoon is fed by the snow that melts from the snowy Ausangate.
– Finally, you will camp here in Ausangate Q'ocha to spend the second night.

DAY 3: LAGUNA AUSANGATE LAKE – YOURS

– From Ausangate Q'ocha Lagoon, you will ascend towards Palomani Pass, which is located at an impressive altitude of 5,200 meters (17,056 feet) and is the highest point of your hike.
– From the pass, you will follow the path towards the valley, where you can rest and enjoy lunch.
– In the afternoon, you will enjoy panoramic views of the snow-capped Tres Picos and Punta Puca.
– Then, you will continue through the wide green valley of Pampa Jutunpata and ascend the valley of the Q'ampa River.
– Finally, you will spend the third night in this beautiful area.

DAY 4: ROCK – PACK

– Along the way, you will see several lagoons of different colors and you will enjoy lunch next to Q'oma Q'ocha.
– You will continue walking for several hours before reaching the small town of Pacchanta.
– Here, you will have the opportunity to soak in the hot springs for a couple of hours and enjoy a well-deserved beer.
– You will set up camp near Pacchanta and have the afternoon free to explore this interesting Andean town. You also have the option of staying in a basic hostel tonight.

DAY 5: PACCHANTA – CUSCO
Your fifth and final day trekking to Ausangate sounds like this:

– Once in Tinqui, you will have time to explore and learn more about life in this charming place.
– Then, you will take your transportation back to Cusco, with an estimated arrival around 6:00 p.m.
